The Present Situation In Quantum Mechanics: A... →
Translation of the original paper of Erwin Schrödinger on the famous Quantum Mechanics paradox known as the Schrödinger’s cat.  It lead us to serious implications in Physics, Science, Epistemology, Philosophy… and therefore on everything around us. Well, actually it’s not a real experiment but a thought experiment, and depending of the kind of solution you choose, you are getting...

divide-by-zero asked: The Girl "discovering" the missing mass was discussed quite vigorously over lunch in my physics department! I'm at the University of Melbourne (Monash uni is also in Melbourne), and the story made the front page of one of our newspapers. The astro people were all stunned that this made front page news - according to them, this was a nice confirmation of theoretical predictions, but...

WatchWatch
This machine manipulates small spherical rare earth magnets, slicing one at a time from the end of a long chain, moving it around a bit, then dropping it back to re-connect at the tail end of the chain. It also demonstrates a little snippet of science called eddy currents. Watch how slowly the magnet falls through the aluminum tube compared to falling through air: the falling magnet generates an...

mmmmateo asked: For the person asking about mitosis and meiosis, the following website has educational videos on just about anything you might want to know about cellular reproduction (along with thousands of other videos on different topics too!)
http://khanexercises.appspot.com/
I find it an invaluable educational tool!
The reproduction videos start with this one:

william-co asked: Hey there, I thought you might be a good person to ask: Mitosis & Meiosis.

Mitosis I can understand, but Meiosis not so much. Am I right in saying that Meiosis is basically just Mitosis, that happens twice (Meiosis 1 & 2), if you exclude crossing over.
And obviously I understand that it isn't exactly that, but at a basic(ish) level, is that correct?
If...
